Care Guide
How to Protect and Preserve Your Original Artwork
Thank you for investing in original art from The Urban Narrative. Each piece is a hand-painted work created with care, intention, and premium materials. To ensure your artwork remains in pristine condition, please follow the care guidelines below.
Border & Framing Information
- All rolled artworks include a 5cm white border around the painting to allow for flexible framing options.
- If you require a larger border (e.g. for stretching a larger frame or custom wrap), please contact us immediately after placing your order. We’re happy to accommodate where possible, but additional space must be requested before the painting process begins.
Unpacking & Handling
- All paintings are dried and sealed before packaging and shipped rolled in a protective plastic layer and cardboard tube.
- Always handle your artwork with clean, dry hands and place it on a clean, smooth surface during unrolling.
- Do not leave your painting rolled up for extended periods of time, especially in warm or humid environments, as this can create pressure or condensation that may disturb the surface texture. We recommend unwrapping your artwork within 24–48 hours of delivery.
Storage Before Framing
- If you are not framing your painting immediately, store it unrolled or loosely rolled in a cool, dry area, away from direct sunlight, moisture, or heat sources.
- While our paintings are highly resistant once framed and displayed on your walls (they will not melt or warp in heat), they can be vulnerable when tightly rolled in a hot or humid setting.
Framing & Display Recommendations
- While not necessary, we recommend having your piece professionally framed using UV-protective glass or acrylic for added longevity if you reside in hotter, humid climates. Framing not only protects your painting but enhances its impact in your space.
- Avoid hanging your artwork in direct sunlight, as even the best paints and finishes can fade over time under harsh light.
-
Do not hang your painting outdoors, even in covered areas. Humidity, rain, wind, and environmental exposure can damage the piece.
Additional Tips
- Avoid contact with water, sprays, or cleaning products.
- To clean the surface, gently dust with a soft, dry cloth or duster (no rubbing).
- If you notice any curling at the edges before stretching, do not worry it is not damaged, stretching will correct this.
