This painting continues the artist’s exploration of tension between the natural world and constructed environments. While the original Origins held a fragile balance between industry and nature, this second work pushes the conversation further toward quiet erasure.
Here, colour has been stripped away. In its place: softened greys, muted tones, and fractured lines of architecture no longer sharp, but settling. The lone tree remains, but not untouched. It sits in a world one step further removed, where memory of nature still exists, but only in trace.
This is not a painting of conflict, but of consequence. A reflection on how design, growth, and ambition can overwrite the organic slowly, completely, and often without intention. And yet, amidst it all, the tree still holds. Less vibrant, but still rooted. A witness.
Origins The Second Descent is a meditation on what happens when the built world loses touch with what came before. A study in what fades, and what endures.
